Admittedly this is my first overnight flight and more seasoned fliers would probably laugh at me but it was not the best of experiences. The plane left at 11pm and they served a chicken dinner at 12:30 in the morning and now just served a breakfast at 5am - how often do people need to eat? My initial reaction upon waking and hearing the tearing of cellophane packaged food in the seats ahead of me, like so many squirrels getting into your garbage was "f*** this s*** I'm sleeping through breakfast". But then my baser instincts took over and I thought "better eat now - might need the energy and who knows how long it will be until you get to eat again." Breakfast itself was scrambled eggs that although having the texture of tapioca or drywall paste was actually tasty; a cold mini bagel and a few pieces of fruit. It felt weird to eat at 5am when you last ate at 12:30 and only slept maybe one hour but the body is a machine and it needs fuel. Now the problem is "you woke me up and there is still an hour to go before we arrive. Now what do I do?" FYI the screen on the back of the seat in front of me tells me we have maintained an average cruising speed of between 850 and 950 km/hr.
One other thing, my travelling partners told me I should wear pants as it will be cool in the plane. I knew it would be but damn it was an ice box! I made good use of the blanket provided and wished I had more.
