When we left Weatherford two days ago it was 25 degrees F and by the time we arrived in Amarillo it was 60 degrees F ! After Weatherford we stopped at Clinton Oklahoma and visited a brilliant route 66 Museum. Bought a few extra souveniers too Elk City was our next stop where they have a recreated Route 66 town from the 1930's and also THE WORLD'S LARGEST Route 66 Sign. We managed to negotiate the roads to leave Tulsa. With the storm we had snow, freezing rain, sleet, hail, thunder and lightning. The only thing we missed was a Tornado although I probably shouldn't say that. We are now in St Louis staying at a Best Western Hotel at $65 per night including breakfast. This morning had breakfast in a diner/ bakehouse in Litchfield that charged $6.79 for the full eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast coffee. I bought a cup of coffee earlier at a Hardees and it was 53 cents. This country really is inexpensive. Absolutely marvelous day. We arrived at the Endangered Wolf Centre near Eureka Missouri only to be told that it was closed, however they opened for us and we got a private tour.
