Well, back on Route 66 we travelled down the road to Barstow via an old mining town of Oatman, where donkeys roam the streets and will hunt for any food that you have on you> Cute place but does rather smell of donkey sh***. Gold mining was huge here up until the 1930's. The town was named after Olive Oatman who was abducted by the Mojave indians and lived with them for several years. Well as they often say, just when you think that Las Vegas can't get any tackier, it does. Yesterday we caught the bus to Freemont Street to find first off, The Heart Attack Cafe. We are now in Las Vegas enjoying some well earned R and R. It's tough being on the road each day. We now have some good weather with 82 Deg. F yesterday. We left Santa Fe and headed for Alburqueque. At This point the interstate highway has been built over the old route 66 and the road passes by many small not so wealthy villages.
