I Never ever ever thought I would see views and sunsets like Ryan and I have been lucky enough to see over the past 2 days ! Santorini is truly amazing and very couply, ryan and I had a funny discussion today about this issue considering we were 2 males in one of the most beautiful and romantic places in the world haha .. but pushing through this issue we have loved every minute of our stay !
we were staying on the opposite side of the island to the tour group, however had amazing accomodation at STELIOS PLACE apartments, which had a pool cheap food and bar, the rooms have been amazing ! clean, tidy, spacious, brand new :)
Perissa beach is fantastic, black sand which is very different and almost pebbly, with a massive cliff face on the far left hand side, the beach is covered with beach umbrellas and wooden banana lounges, giving it a paradise feel ! along the foreshore are mini beach and cocktail bars and cafes !
We hired a small motorbike over the past 2 days, as ryan has his motorbike licence, this made the experience 100 times better, having the ablity to explore however we liked ! with the help of some locals we were given advice to go to Oia for some platform jumping and crystal clear waters, and boy thats what we found ! an experience I will never ever forget. the drive here from our place took 40 minutes, and then walk for 10 across narrow dirt trails next to the ocean, then we found a village at the base of the cliff, with donkey rides up to the top and mini cafes, restaurants with fresh seafood in tanks at the front of them!
We actully followed the busabout day tour on there bus , however we saved 50 euro and used the motorbike instead, still gaining access to there geographic movements haha ! we explored the monastry which was the highest point on the island around 600m high ! then went to perissa beach for some cocktails and sweet crepes :).. from here we visited the Red sand beach- wow the heat bounced off these red cliffs, would of been 50 degrees beach side !
Santo winery was a very chilled out place where ryan and I sampled 6 wines :S not usually a fan of wine, although i enjoyed the sweet desert wine ! the cheese olives and bread were more my thing woohoo... ohh did I mention we were sitting cliff side looking out over the ocean across to THIRA and OIA :) ... I cant explain the view and pictures do not do anything I say here justice !
NOW FOR THE SUNSETS- CALDERA in OIA ! this sunset is something I will cherish now for life and Im sure I speak on ryans behalf as well ! ... sharing it with alot of our new friends especially the north shore sydney ladies (3 sisters) who are absolute legends and blonde bombshells to say the least haha . nah defiately found some surfer friends for life there ..
The sunset around 8:30pm as a cruise ship sailed by and everyone clapped in the little narrow lanes .... 1000s of people line the cliff edges to witness this . we had a cliff top picnic organised by CAT our tour leader , cheese, ham, cheese more cheese, olives, sundried tomatoes, dips, breads, drinks, fetta cheese wow :)
I COULD SAY TO ANYONE bring your partner here, or even just get here because it is beautiful. OFF to IOS tomorrow, apparently it is cheap and full of water sports activities and an amazing nightlife xoxo love rosco
Ryan will write his blog soon !
