Just popping out..... Back in a jiffy!!!
Hello again everyone!!!!!
Had a great time in Cairns with Shelly - had to wave her goodbye today after her 4 weeks in Oz.
Fitzroy Island was gorgeous, a proper little bit of Paradise - crystal clear sea and white beaches. Check out the photos!!!!! We got bitten to pieces though - bloody ants!!!!!!!!!
Did a bit of snorkeling in our very fetching 'stinger suits' over the reefs about 10 meters offf shore at Nudey Beach (named after a Mr Nudey, there were no naked people there)!!!! It's the jellyfish breeding season and during this time they come to the shore, so the suits were a must!!!!
Also visited Kuranda, a village in the rainforest. Went up by Skyrail, which sails up above the rainforest with great views, and came back down on the scenic railway, which offers equally good views of the landscapes!!!
Another highlight was a trip to Cape Tribulation. Came rather close to a crocodile!!!!!!!!! We were following a walking route detalied on a welcoming flyer we were handed upon arrival, which said you had to walk through a creek on the beach. It failed to mention that the creek was inhabitted by crocs, and sure enough there was one about 20 meters away!!!!!!!! Needless to say we turned around and headed back rather swiftly!!!!!!
Leaving Cairns on Tuesday and heading southwards down the coast to Mission Beach.
