Stayed the night at the Overnight camp in the Memorial Gardens at Meckering. A very welcome, quiet spot on a very windy day. Meckering is the town which in October1968 had a 6.9 earthquake which destroyed the town. We are at Hyden Wave Rock Caravan Park for two nights. We arrived about 3 pm yesterday so just settled in and relaxed. The park is situated at the Wave Rock and entry is included in the price of the Caravan Park. This morning we went for a look. Quite impressive!!! Lots better than what I thought it was going to be. Beautiful scenery driving today through the Fitzgerald National park area. The roads were like riding a roller coaster and the roads quite narrow. This area is desperate for rain, but it absolutely poured last night so the local farmers should be happy. Today we left Mataranka and drove to Katherine to park and get some groceries and then on to a free camp on the Victoria highway for the night.
