At the Midpoint Cafe we met a couple who live in Salisbury; it's a small world.
After we'd left Adrian (Andrew said we decided we would go back for him later!) we continued to Glenrio. We crossed the boarder into New Mexico and found 18 miles of original Route 66 that is now mainly gravel. We found our way through to San Jon and on to Tucumcari. We went via Montoya and Newkirk to Cuervo where we found another 5 mile section of the old dirt track.
We drove on through Santa Rosa and attempted to drive to Romeroville. But got lost in Las Vegas instead. We eventually found out way back to Romeoville, which was where we had started. But we won't talk about that as it was me that was navigating...
We followed Route 66 through San Jose and Pecos to Santa Fe.
Going to Santa Fe is like stepping into another world. It's like a cross between the buildings of Spain and the markets in Turkey. All handmade stuff. We had a wander round and stopped for tea at the Upper Crust pizza place. Pizza was amazing!
