Hello!
Sorry i havent written for a while. The last place i stayed and this one have both had free internet, but they have both been so busy i havent been able to get online until now (it is 12.30am now!). So since i last wrote we spent more time exploring the island on motorbike, which was great fun. we spent some time at some really nice beaches, and we also went to a nice temple and a huge statue of a bhudda which was being constructed still, and was the largest one in Phuket, and stood on the top of a huge hill. we didnt get to see as much as we would have liked, as it rained quite a bit which restricts what we can do quite a bit, so also ended up spending quite a lot of time watching movies!
So we left Thailand yesterday, me having spent over a month and a half in total in thailand. i felt quite sad about leaving, as i really love it there and had got used to the life style. but i think it was best that i left as i was starting to feel that i didnt want to leave! We touched down in Singapore yesterday (also gaining an hour), and my first new thing that i noticed was that the toilets in the airport flushed themselves! i was so impressed. coming from a place where you often dont even get a flush i was so excited! Singapore does live up to the classic stereotypes, it is very clean and ordered, but not at all boring and there is lots to do. it is basically like a really nice version of london, without the graffitti and dirt, and a lot prettier! the underground system is excllent. We are staying in an ok place, a lot more expensive than what i am used to, but it was the cheapest place we could find. So after we arrived yesterday we spent a bit of time trying to find somewhere to stay, then later we went out for food and got the tube to the main shopping area, whcih is really nice (and yes i did some shopping, i can tell this is going to be an expensive trip, the clothes here are so mcuh nicer than you can get at home, and they are made for small asian peole so they fit me!!!! yay). the main things i would say are noticable about here is the amount of shopping and eating people do! there is food and clothes shops EVERYWHERE. i dont know how everyone isnt the size of a house, i have nver seen so much food. we also met a really nice english man in a bar that we went to who bought us our drinks! he was so nice. there are lots of expats living here, it is kind of weird. Stephen (the guy who bought our drinks) told us that if you have a UK passport it is really easy to get a job here, so that is alway an option for the future!) the main language here is english, so it is really easy. Today it rained again, so so we did a bit more shopping, then as it was still rainign we went to the cinema and watched Angles and Demons. although not as good as the book (they never are are they?) it was a much better adaptation than the Da Vinci Code. It was funny in the cinema, becasue when there are small subtle bit of humour in the film, where most english people would just think 'huh!' the sinaporeans (dont know if that is the right word!) really laugh out loud, when it is not even funny, just a whimsical moment. that really made me laugh. This evening we went to Clarke Quay, the posh waterfront bar and restaurant area and had a drink and a really nice meal (although it was really expensive!) unfortunatly this time no one offered to buy our drinks. I really like Singapore so far, wouldnt mind living here one day (although i would get so fat i would no longer be able to find the nice clothes here to fit me, so maybe not a good idea.) Tomorrow will do more exploring and then the day after i head to Australia!!!
Will speak the next time i can ge online!!!
