We arrived at our hostel, which had inconventiently changed it's name from the one given in the guide book, in desperate need of a shower, but Kev was intent on taking advantage of the free breakfast first. We eargerly eyed the Marmite belonging to the couple next to us but, despite our polite conversation, we weren't offered any. However, given the poor lad had been so desperate for Marmite that he'd considered asking his Mum to send some from England, I don't think I could have taken it from him even if he'd offered.
Singapore, although a very pleasant city, does lack any real landmarks, so we spent most of our time wandering around and finding things as they appeared. Luckily for Kev, the cricket ground appeared but was too exclusive for us to have a look around. We took a cable car ride to Mount Faber and Sentosa Island which gave impressive views but all that was there to meet us was a tourist shop and a very long queue to get back again, slightly disappointing.
In the evening, we ate at another hawker centre and then went in search of a Singapore Sling, as apparently the cocktail had been invented by a waiter at the Raffles Hotel. Unsurprisingly, we couldn't really justify the cocktail bar prices, so instead watched the street entertainment which included a very lively samba band.
A lot of the following day was spent dogding the rain showers, but luckily the rain didn't spoil the St. Patrick's Day Parade! There was an interesting mix of groups making up the parade, most notably the Star Wars Stormtroopers, and even the US Girl Guides had made it over.
As fun as the parade was, we had a plane to catch and couldn't afford the Guiness anyway, so we picked up our bags from the hostel and made our way through the crowded underground system to the airport where we said goodbye to South-East Asia.
