Ron; At home today and setting up this blog, hopefully we will have time to keep it updated as we travel through Africa.

First of all why a VW Camper for a trip like this?
A; A little bit of nostalgia, Wendy and I made our first road trip into Mexico from our home in Canada in a similar van though it was an ugly green color. We had a worderfull time, the van is not very fast so that I was forced to just relax and go at the pace it would allow.
B; We have a comfortable place to sleep
C; Although not fast they are good on rough roads, muddy roads, and narrow streets.

Trip preperation;
Most of the countries we will be traveling through require visas. These visas allow a narrow time frame from the application/issue date to the travel date. Living in a little town in Mexico has made that more difficult as there few Embassies in Mexico. We sent our passports to a company in London England because all the countries we are visiting have embassies there. However not living in England the company had difficulties with some, the biggest issue is with Ethiopia. We do not know what we will have to do about that at this time. We will keep you posted.
