DAY TWENTY NINE
A five am hair-raising tuk tuk ride to Phnom Penh Airport was certainly one way to convert us from mildly awake to completely ready for the days itinerary.
The flight to Changi Airport in Singapore was a mere four hours, bringing us closer to Australia - small flight bursts is certainly the way to travel to Australia. There has been no jet-lag whatsoever, ensuring that when we land in the country of choice, we are completely up to the task for a shift in culture, language, currency and smell!
Singapore is incredible. They have an interlink tube/train service called the MRT, which is incredibly cost effective and connects the entire city. The MRT collects passengers from the Airport, and within 20 minutes, you are in Singapore's CBD.
The humidity is certainly one to be reckoned with, coupled with 30 degree heat you need to be wearing Bruce-style clothing otherwise you would certainly become the Wicked Witch and melt.
We met with one of Jasmin's best mates, Jen, who she went to University in Sheffield with, who is teaching at an exclusive Singaporean school. Arriving at her complex, bewilderment was the best description. She most definitely under-sold her accommodation! Four massive apartment towers with a huge swimming pool, a gym, basketball and tennis courts, running track and also completely landscaped. Nice.
The evening was spent with the two girls catching up, and at around 9, Jens fella Andy, arrived home, after a mere 13 hour day at the marketing firm he works for! Burrrrggghhhh...13 hours in an office! It's okay by him though, they give the staff free beer at the end of the week for their hard work!
