Having finally arrived in London, after an eight hour plane ride, our adventure truly begins. We arrived in Heathrow, grabbed our suitcases and set about trying to find Peter's apartment. The best part: it wasn't until we got into the underground that we realized that all we knew was that we had to get to King's Cross....and Alex had Peter's number, but we were underground, so unfortunately we could not call. So we grabbed a couple of Tube maps and hoped someone could help us. Which, no one could. Finally we got a hold of Peter who informed us that the Angel tube station was the closest to where he was, so we managed to navigate London's ridiculously complicated underground system, and finally emerged in Islington, ready for sleep. That wasn't going to happen, though, since it was only 9 am. SO...we dropped our stuff off at Peter's and decided we would try to go walk around for a little bit, and leave Peter and his brother to finish planning their restaurant. Peter's "apartment" is actually a bedroom above the restaurant that he is helping his brother open.
Eric told us to take the 38 or the 19 into Picadilly Circus (which is London's version of Times Square, except with bigger Jumbotrons) and being the tourists that we are, we figure out that the 19 is a double decker bus, so we decide to take that one, no matter how long we have to wait for it. We were so tired from the plane ride and the day before that we actually missed Picadilly (which, upon reflection, is pretty funny, cause it's huge) and ended up walking down the street finally seeing a sign that said Buckingham Palace with an arrow, so we followed it and ended up getting lost in Westminster, but we saw almost all that Westminster has to offer. Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, etc. etc. There's pictures so don't worry.
After we were too tired and wet and cold to think we decided to try to find our way back to Islington, but we had wandered so FAR off the course that we originally set out on, we had to literally backtrack all the way to Picadilly to find a bus. Then, they were still working in the restaurant, so we decide to sit at Starbucks and have a coffee. Then, being the geniuses that we are, we decide to go out and have a drink with Peter, Eric and Dan...so, we were up for a good 36 hours and then fell into a deep sleep.
