This morning I visited the Temple of Literature which is of great historical significance in Hanoi as it was the ancient centre of learning and the first university in Vietnam. Across the road from it is the Museum of Fine Arts so I spent an hour or so looking around it's extensive art collection. It had a really impressive amount of art in lots of different styles and mediums as well as a section on pottery and tribal art which was really colourful and interesting. I walked back into town and to the Cathedral and then had lunch before going to a Water Puppet Show. Water puppets are weird! They are wooden puppets on top of wooden poles, and the pole part is submerged in water so it appears as though the puppets are dancing on top of the water. There was a number of different dances which the puppets performed to the music of a traditional band, and although it was definitely a cultural experience I won't find anywhere else, I'm not too sure if I can say I enjoyed it!
I spent the rest of the afternoon looking for a Post Office so I could send my postcards and fighting with a computer to print off my flight travel itinerary for tomorrow.
