Rohin goes around the world
Been having quite the time here in New York city. There is lots to see and do and having the 2 weekends is making it pretty cruisy to do it all.
I arrived on Thursday and am staying with Audrey, Chris's partner in the Midtown area of New York. Its a great area to be based from with Central Park, Time Square, Maddison gardens and much much more. Wes arrived on Friday and just as with our other adventures the hook up wasnt smooth. I was expecting him to arrive at Grand Central station around 3pm so was in the area from 2:30 waiting on his SMS. At 4 when I hadent heard from him I tried to SMS with no responce and then tried to call, but the phone wasnt on. So by 4:30 I gave up and came back to the aparntment to find out that he had rung Audrey around 3 and she told him to just stay there and I would find him. Hmm sort of wasnt looking there though so he had sat in the centre of grand central with his bags for around 2.5 hours. Poor Wes.
I walked the length of Central Park on Friday with Anthony (Chris's younger brother also staying with Audrey). The park is great at around 5kms long if not more and heaps of fields, paths, fountains and squirrels. The road around has no cars but is full of bikers doing laps so I think at some stage ill unpack the bike and cut a few myself.
Thursday and Friday nights wernt too excting with both Wes and I suffering Jet Lag but we made an attempt at making up for that last night hitting the Webster Hall nigth club. At $30 US entry and then $36 for the first round of drinks it was not a cheap night, but you get that in New York it seems. Shame the music was crap but we still pulled out a few Aussie dance moves to wow the crowd.
On Sat we did the Stanton Island Ferrie ride and then walked up to Ground Zero and then did Broadway street. It was a bit like being back in Turkey with street venders and getting hasseled alot but this time we knew how to handel it. Got some good deals and some nice stuff so im pretty happy about that.
Today Wes and I did the Guggenheim musem in 20mins. I think it might be a record for that place. Its a great building by Frank Lloyd wright and well worth seeing but neither of us had much interest in the art works so soon we were on our way into central park making our way down to Time Square.
Nice quite night tonight with tomorrow the start of unknown adventures. We have a hire car for 4 days and plan to see Niagra falls and the Frank Lloyd Wright building near Philedelphia but apart from that????
