Thanksgiving in the Snow!!
What a wonderful and diverse few days we have just had!
Tuesday saw us sailing around the whole island of Manhattan, becoming orientated as we moved along past famous landmarks, districts, bridges and of course the Statue of Liberty. Had a pretty crazy guide who thought he was Robin Williams and did very poor imitations of film stars and comedians.
Such a different experience on the next day. Awoke to snow falling and a lunch date with yet another octogenarian......this time a jeweller for many decades and an award winning photographer more recently. Fabulous penthouse apartment, amazing stories and the time flew! Off again a few hours later to the Lincoln Centre to hear the New York Philharmonia Orchestra......a stunning programme of classical music including Beethoven's seventh symphony.
Thanksgiving was the following day...so not deterred by snow and freezing temperatures, Wendy and Roe joined the crowds in nearby Central Park to watch the parade while John jogged around the park! The parade was geared to children with floats and amazing inflatable characters from literature, film and TV, each held by about 40 people with ropes. It was a really fun atmosphere with families lining the route and all in high spirits.
Thoroughly chilled, we set for our Thanksgiving lunch in a most beautiful restaurant in a brownstone building. Yes we had roast turkey and all the trimmings....delicious vegetables and sauces and gravies ...all very yummy! Desserts were hard to choose from..... Pumpkin pie, berry trifle , creme brûlée.....we decided we rather liked the idea of Thanksgiving.... No gifts, just getting together as families and sharing a meal.
Friday was shopping day for Roe who braved the post Thanksgiving sales.....quite successfully! Wendy went for a swim to free up her back a bit and then both met up with John for another night of jazz!
One more week to go! We have some lovely things planned...including 2 plays on Broadway....can't wait!
Hope all is well with everyone
Love from us all 3

Jeanette Lovely to hear from you. It is a Magic place. Beware of that snow ! Keep warm all of you. Life Down Under is warming up with its attendant Christmas hype. I do love this time of year. Off to Phillip Is with Kaye and girls and 2 friends We are outnumbered by teenagers. Amazingly they are very excited about going. It should be great. We can only hope that the penguins and seals can come up with a show equivalent to Broadway...maybe. See you all soon. Continue to have a Wonderful time Love to you all Jeanette

Sarah Langmore It sounds like you are fitting so many wonderful things in. How gorgeous to have snow. I'm glad we were able to organise a good change of Government in Wendy's absence. Sarah
