So after leaving Sydney, I went up the coast on Oz Experience and our first stop was Surf Camp, Spot X (ie Arrawarra near Coffs Harbour). We had a really cool beach party in the evening and then the next morning we were up at 6 to do the surf lesson!
It was a lot of fun. We were in the water for a couple of hours. I managed to stand up a few times so I was pleased with that. After the lesson, we were back on the bus and heading for Byron Bay.
I am staying in a really hippy hostel in Byron called the Arts Factory - definately worth visiting if you're here. You can stay in Teepees, double decker buses, wagons, tents and dorms. There's loads of arty stuff too like massage, yoga, didgeridoo lessons, hula dancing, a cinema and lively bar. Ideal!
I took a daytrip to Nimbin, home of the happy hippies, which is like an Amsterdam for the Southern Hemisphere. I was approached by several drug dealers who seem to horde around the travellers, but they didn't hassle us too much.
So I am loving Byron Bay! It's raining today but hopefully it will clear up soon.
