World Trip 2005-06
The trip to Singapore lasted 3 days, which was enough to get a feel for the place. We enjoyed our stay, the city is very well presented, tough governing of this city state has kept the prostitutes of the streets and the rubbish in the bins!! the city is filled with shopping malls and food outlets, which was cool as it was christmas time and the food was so so good.
We stayed in Little India in an awesome hostel which had just opened two months prior.
1st day
Found hostel and chilled within for the night
2nd day
Look around town, checking out all the malls and using the subway! the subway was so awesome, really clean and modern. At night we went to the famous 'Night Safari'! an array of crazy animals
3rd day
More of the same throughout the day. In the afternoon we met a bunch of dudes from Brighton (big shout out to rob, hog monster and co!!). They were cool and joined us when we visited the infamous Raffles hotel for Singapore Slings and peanuts!! the hotel is real posh and boasts to have invented the singapore sling! The bar had an awesome jazz band blasting out popular hits including 'Baker Street', the guy on the sax was a monster! great lungs. We didnt stay long though, expensive!! We all left with plans to hit a nearby club, however it took ages to flag a taxi. Eventually we got a lift with a rich asian dude who happened to be waiting for his chuffuer driven car while we were getting stressed bout the taxi situation. What a nice guy!! he told us all about his travels around the UK and the rest of the world while driving us to the nearby club. The club was ok, we had dance-offs with the locals, who turned out to be body popping guys who knew all the dance moves in the book.
3rd day
That night we lost our camera!!! which explains the lack of photos!!! so we spent today, filling a police report, contacting the insurance guys and snapping up a new camera from one of the many cheap electrical shops in Singapore!! turns out to be a great camara though!
We were catching a plane to Bali later in the day from the most ultra modern airport in the world!! we also heard it had a swimming pool so we hit the airport earlier then usual and enjoyed its offerings before jetting off to pastures new.
