My flight from Phoenix to JFK was not bad at all. I was in an exit row and so had lots of leg room. There had just been a blizzard in the middle of the country and the ground below was beautiful with all of the snow.
Everyone knows that I am really into educational trips. I learned so much just on my flight. They had HGTV on my screen and I watched 4 different shows. I now know how to frost glass, install tile, toilets, electrical boxes, cabinets and sinks. It's got to be harder than they make it look on TV!
As we approached JFK, it was a beautiful clear day and we had great views of the New York City skyline. I kept looking out my window hoping to see the Statue of Liberty but did not. Either, it was out the other side of the plane or we did not fly over it. I am not familiar with the NY landmarks to know where to look.
I did not have any trouble finding an unused luggage cart, claiming my luggage, making my way via the air train to terminal 4 and checking in for my Egypt air flight. The only problem was trying to fill the time for the 5 hour layover.
The Egypt Air plane really was terrible. I do not recommend this to anybody. They carpet was not vacuumed, the seatback pockets were just dangling and my seat cushion had big stains on it. It actually was disgusting. By the time they got to my seat while serving dinner, they had run out of meals and so I had a roll and a cup of fruit.
The flight itself was o.k. We didn't have any turbulence and even arrived in Cairo ahead of schedule. And they did give us each a little kit with goodies in it. It will make a nice camera case in the days to come. I did not get a lot of sleep on the 11 hour flight but I did watch one movie called "Eagle Eye" that was somewhat bizarre. I like Michael Chiklas from "The Shield" and he was in it but I also do not recommend this movie.
