The title of this blog is soooo appropriate right now. Sweden has failed on everything post 1600. The buildings around Stockholm are beautiful and the many photos I took will have to remain locked in my digital camera because there is no way to down load them onto the blog.
Remember we crossed the boarder and the train broke down. The coffee bar on the train was not restocked so there was no food. If this wasn't enough, Gothenberg proved to be the dullest city we have visited so far and this includes Ed, the inbred remote village the train was broken down at for 2 hours.
After giving up on Gothenberg we waited for our the train to Stockholm in the railway pub where the bread crack the crown on my tooth. We boarded the train for Stockholm desperately waiting for Sweden to redeem itself after such a wonderful 1st week in Norway, Iceland and England.
The YHA is great however they have blocked the communal computers to all forms of digital technology, so no plugging in cameras, ipads or smart phones to down load pictures onto travel blogs or facebook. Oh well lets take a ferry trip to the accommodation place we are staying at when we return.
Anyway Chris and I thought we would grab a coffee in town before the ferry to Nacka at 1130. Cafes don't open till 11. Obviously people are not thirsty before midday in Stockholm.
Caught the ferry and arrived to confirm our booking for the Hotel Kvarnholmen via Wotif and Expedia. Here is another FAIL for Sweden, what booking? We have no record of your booking here at all. Great, we have no booked accommodation in Stockholm for the 4 days of Eurovision. Apparently the plumbing in 15 rooms failed at the hotel a few weeks ago. Apparently the run of emails from expedia about not having a room then disregard the email they do have a room was really no they don't have a room.
So on the phone to expedia who said they would find us another room equal or better than the one they failed to book for us. A week before Eurovision. Good luck with that. But they found us another place 6 kms from town and harder to get to, but we had to take it as Stockholm is fully booked out for the 12 - 16 May. Funny, that's why I booked this room in January.
So summing up Sweden so far, broken train tracks, stale milk and "Precious" could stock a cafe better than the train company, smashed tooth, lost accommodation booking and digitally in the Stone Age. Should they really be trusted with Eurovision???
Looking forward to leaving Sweden tomorrow for Finland. Sweden be warned, you have 6 days to get your S*** together or trip adviser will hear about it
This ends my first real angry pissed off blog.
