The train, as efficiently as usual, left on time and was a smooth and pleasant trip across the southern coast of Finland from Turku to Helsinki. The European rail cards have worked without a problem, in fact all our bookings with the exception of the Wotif/Expedia booking in Stockholm have worked. The train arrived on time in Helsinki and it was easy to find the tram we needed for the trip to the YHA. Surprisingly, the technology on the phone alone has been good. There are many free apps and like those in Australia to help navigate the transport, they are fairly accurate and interactive with real time data. Having had a quick Facebook back and forward with a few other friends I am now aware that traveling with a digital camera basically requires carrying your own laptop. There is just no other easy user friendly way to get photos off the camera. So I have decide to continue this blog, and continue to use the camera and when possible update on the occasions when I find a public computer.
Back to the blog. Helsinki is beautiful. The short trip on the tram gave us a glimpse of down town and it looked inviting. There seems to be a very relaxed pace to the city and the weather over the next few days is predicted to reach 20. Shorts and sandals.
