It has been absolutely freezing today. The wind in Holland was icy and it has stayed with us into Toledo, Ohio. It has also rained for most of the day.
After breakfast at the same cafe in Holland, we hit the road. About half an hour into the trip we stopped for petrol. It must have been the coldest place on earth with the slowest petrol
pump in history.
The scenery along the way was pretty - lots of trees starting to turn red, orange and yellow. There were also cows and of course, corn.
We arrived in Toledo too early to check into The Addams Family house so we checked out where it was and then drove around to look at Toledo. We drove around for a while but didn't find much. It is another one if those towns where no one is around.
We needed to do some washing but not all hotels have a guest laundry. We came across a laundromat so stopped there. What a depressing place. We must have been in a poor neighbourhood. People were coming in doing their full washing - sheets, towels and blankets as well as their clothing. You weren't allowed to leave your washing unattended so we had to stay in there for over an hour.
After that we checked in and spoke to the guy in the hotel about things to do. He recommended some restaurants for dinner and told us about Toledo's glass history.
We braved the elements and went out again. There was a Westfield not far away so we stopped in there for Rob to pick up some things she wanted for the girls.
We had made a reservation for dinner at the Real Seafood Co on the recommendation of our host. It is down along the river in a rows of restaurants called The Docks. It was a really nice place and the food was delicious and cheap. Robyn had a whole lobster for $20!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow we will visit the Art Museum and Glass Pavillion. Apart from that we will wait and see what the weather is like before making plans.
