Well guys here we go for the Christmas update. So it's me Leanne doing this entry and i've been putting it off for a long time (so sorry) But i hope this makes up for it.
So the last entry we had an apartment and jobs in Auckland which was a good laugh but you know how it is when you work there is nothing to talk about other than what you watched on TV etc...
So as the weather warmed up and we began getting itchy feet we thought now is a good time to get a van.. So off we went to the backpackers car market and got our passion wagon which is a Toyota Townace with the seats taken out and a double bed in the back which is really comfy (thank god) Its awsome we have a tent thing that attaches on the back and we have a gas stove and draws and chairs. We love it and we have had some amazing times which i shall now talk about..
So then after we got some other Guys to take over the lease on the appartment we set off on our journey. So we headed North of Auckland and we got to aplace called Waiwera which is a sweet place they have these geo-themal hot pools which are awsome. they have about five different ones, but one has this big cinema screen in so we watched King Kong in this big hot pool. It was so good. So in this campsite we went to we met this Hippy Hugarian ozzy woman and her kid that we ended up travelling with for a few days. This was both funny and anoying as me and Rob got pretty sick of the stories of White light and energy.. (there is only so much you can take really). So on we went to Goat Island (nice place amazing blue fish and a town near bye which sold the best coffe ever. So the plan was we were just gonna travel up the East Coast for a few weeks and then return to Auckland to see Muse. So Rob just kept driving whilst i did the worst Map reading ever (Mum i'm sure you know) We found some amazing places, amazing beaches and just stunning surroundings we couldnt believe how stunning it is every ten minutes in the van you are saying 'Oh wow look at that' and every beach you go to you can pretty much guarantee you will be alone its unreal. The East coast was so good really hot. Rob got a tan strait away (Git) whilst i'm struggling to get a nornal skin colour other than being Blue. Onwards and upwards we went to a place called Russell in The Bay of Islands. Its a really funky town with loads of Fish and Chip shops (Score) Nothing on England though. As we had been really good at covering the miles and making good time we decided to do a 24 hour cruise on a boat called 'The Rock' This was awsome we got picked up at like five PM and the boat was cool. Big bar, pool table and cabins. so we started off the trip with a shooting competition where we has to shoot a plastic duck tied to the back of the boat. Oh yeas my friends i kicked ass. i should be a sniper i shot that thing twice and won... (I beat Rob and he wasn't happy) then we fished off the boat and me and Rob were the only ones that didnt catch anyhing i was really bored after a while but the sunset was amazing. I was pretty gutted about how they killed the fish as well. A big wooden bat thing smacked on there head.. (bless them) so after getting enough fish dinner was set, which was dam good snapper.. Then came the night Kayaking i was not to up for this dark water and all! Rob also said he wont leve me... So what was the first thing he did? Oh yeah left me... so here is me waiting for Jaws desperatly trying to stay in the middle of the group but i was just going in circles. ( how are you supposed to steer those things)... So after that we went to bed and shared a room with a middle aged German bloke who farted all night long (laughing my ass off). In the morning we walked around this beautiful island and then went snorkling in the coldest water in the world but it was really good just bloody cold. We got some muscles which were so good. That trip was amazing such a great crew and awsome time loved it...
After chilling in The Bay of Island we needed to get back down to Auckland for 'Muse' (a band) so we set off back down the East Coast just driving and chilling out.
We arrived back in Auckland and instantly hated being back after seing such nice places but as far as city's go its a nice place.
Muse were amazing best gig ever had such a great time. so we were back in Auckland for a few days saying all our final farewells to all our friends.
We had heard some great things about the Corramandel so off we went and yes it is amazing so pretty but nuts roads on the side of cliffs and all.. Had a great time here and we saw Dolphins which was amazing. Was about 8 of them all hearding in the fish right near the shaw, so we pulled up ran to the beach and we were the only ones to see it. Unreal!!!!
From the Corramandel we went to a place called Waitomo Caves famous for Black water rafting and the Glow Worms. We booked the black water rafting which was so good. we repelled in to a cave, zip lined through the cave, waded in Eel infested water, climed up water falls, it was wicked! Loved it so much yep i'm getting really brave.
From Waitimo we moved on to Rotorua (famous for the Geo-thermal hot pools) it was a beautiful place smelt of Egg but so nice we went to the massive Geo Thermal park which we didnt expect to be anyhing on Iceland but it was massive and loads of amazing coloured pools and just a mad place really. Rotorua is full of all the Mouri culture as well which is amazing to see.
Off to Lake Taupo next for the Skydives so excited cant wait... We booked the skydives the day we arrived in Taupo with a company called TTS, which only had a record of 70 deaths this year the lowest of all the companys............... (Joke)
We did the 15,000 feet drop which gives you 60 seconds freefall. i was like a six year old on Christmas morning I could not stop smiling, Rob was all cool with his nerves as always so up we went 15,000 feet. It was the best thing ever i loved it so much right there and then i wanted to blow off the rest of the travelling and do a skydiving course which i will do one day..... We have all the pictures and DVD and all really good.
After Taupo we needed to shift pretty quickly and get to Wellington, so Rob drove about 8 hours that day strait to Wellington from Taupo. (Bless hiim)
Wellington is an awsome city, really European, Funky and alot older than Auckland, just really windy.. We met up with Shaughn, Mary, and Zane which was amazing. We had a Christmas dinner with them and just hung out for a few days site seing and stuff. We camped on the beach in Wellington where there were toilets and showers and it was free it was wicked.. We camped with a German couple who were really cool and we just hung out talking about David Hasslehoff. Oh yeah we saw an amzing sunset here was so pretty. Wellington is a brilliant place so cool, nice people nice views it's just really windy.
From Wellington we had our Ferry to catch over to the South Island which takes about 3 hours. This trip is awsome the views are stunning and green. We loved it really nice crossing.
I'm not allowed to talk anymore about the trip because Rob has the job of talking all about the South Island with i shall just say is amazing.
We wish you all a fantastic Christams and New Year, we miss you all so much.
