Well it’s now the 11th and I landed on ‘Oarman’s Bay Lodge’ several days ago and decided instantly to stay 2 night rather than one! The beach is absolutely gorgeous and clear white sands and no coral in the way of swimming. The people here were great, guests and staff and they made it such a relaxing place to be. . . .
I have done several trips and been up very early every morning for a swim! I can’t stop smiling! My only concern is that I still have not made contact with home, so really hope they are not worrying too much (I am fine!).
I have spent a lot of time with Nick and Claire, they are a great couple with a very similar sense of humour to me, so we all get on really well. . .
Also met Taylor and Tracy and they were really nice, just on the back end of their trip and a guy called James, he is the guy from Leeds, a bit camp and he moans a lot, quite funny though as me, Nick and Claire take the p*ss out of him!
Being as this place was so nice, it inspired me (us – new friends) to do some trips, first of which was a trip to a cave. So after a bout an hour on the boat (I love boats and the scenery is awesome!), we got to the cave. Now here we jumped out of the boat and walked up and then down some steps into this cave full of water. . . We jumped in and watched some of the locals jumping in from great heights. . . . Mad! You then had the option of diving under water into a pitch black cavern! Some people chose not to do it, Claire (sorry, thought I’d mention that!). But it was great, there was a guy on the other side with a torch, so you held your breath and went for it. Very disconcerting, but a good buzz! On the other side it was pitch black, which felt very strange. . . . .You could make lots of noises and it echoed! Needless to say, I was like a child and making lots of splashing and booming noises! Getting out was easier, as you could see the light on the other side. We then headed back and had lunch. The food has been very good so far!
Later on that afternoon we went to the Blue Lagoon, which is supposed to be one of the best places for snorkeling, but to be honest it is pretty good everywhere! But the trip was nice, got to see another island and do a good hour or so of snorkeling, so that was fun. . . !
Later on that evening over a few beers we decided to arrange a fishing trip for the last morning, which seemed a good idea at the time, but after several beers and a few games of poker and getting to bed at 3.30am, the prospect of getting up at 7.00am didn’t seem like fun!
But as a trooper I set my alarm for 7.00am, but was kindly woken up with a flick on the head by Nick (Thanks mate, no really, thanks!).
The fishing trips was a bit slow going, we where only gonna be out there for an hour or so and it took a while to get a good spot. We moved a few times until the boatman was happy then we were fishing, well, not exactly how you would imagine, we didn’t have a rod and reel. We had a cylindrical thing with the fishing wire, weight and hook! Very basic, but hey, it would do the job. I would just like to say at this point that James was so funny, he hadn’t got a clue what to do and got hooked up on the bottom several times and he was actually using a water bottle instead of the the cylindrical thing! He kept asking Nick what to do. . . !
Anyway, you will be pleased to know that I caught the first fish! I actually caught 2 out of the 5 fish we got. . . . I was very happy with my catch of a reef trout and a reasonable sized Snapper. Ironically though, bless him, James also caught 2 fish. . . The best part is though, he didn’t really know until it was looking at him when he pulled it out of the water!
We were due to eat the catch for lunch later. . . ! We did and some of the other guests thought we were getting special treatment. But I felt very proud to be eating what I had caught!
We reluctantly left Oarsman’s and headed to MantaRay

I didn’t really do anything here for 2 days as I got deli belly, Nice! I did however finish my first book ‘A Curious Incident’ (Thanks Em, I enjoyed it).
So due to Deli belly, I have been on detox for a few days, can’t be a bad thing! Managed to get phone reception off Claires phone, so sent a couple of messages to the family saying that I am still alive, etc. . . I hope they got them, because I won’t be able to contact them again til the 17th Jan, when I am in Melbourne.. . . .
Fiji is beautiful and the islands have been so relaxing, I am still very sun burnt and have lost half of my face, plus I have grown something on the side of my face, so yes, I am currently looking very attractive! Still not cut my hair and the beard is getting crazy. . . True traveling right! Well I suppose Graham Lewin has a right to call me Wilson now from the film Castaway?!
Not much more too say now really other than it is nice and chilled, spent a lot of time with Claire and Nick over the last 4 – 5 days and they have left now, but will definitely meet up with them again, if not in Australia, where they will be for 5 months, then definitely in Thailand. . . They have been there many times, so should be good for them to show me round a few spots. . . !
Will miss them, they have been great company and I wish them well for the rest of their trip!
Also met some cool Canadian guys, Shawn and Andrew and a few weirdo’s on the way. . . But you do need somebody to take the p*ss out of, don’t you?!?!
So I leave for Beachcomber Resort tomorrow, my last Island stop, I am due to stay there 3 nights, so the most yet (I hope it’s good), I am certainly missing Oarsman’s now I am here, so hopefully, Beachcomber will be good?! Maybe it hasn’t been as good here due to my upset tummy, that’s never nice?!?
