Breakfast at Toyoko Inn was pretty decent. I totally went OD on the jam and bread! After we satisfied our stomachs, we embarked onto the first visit of the trip which was the Majestic Kumamoto Castle which was built in 1467, expanded in 1600s, had most of it burnt down in 1877 and restoration completed in 2008.
The whole compound is pretty huge and some climbing was necessary as well. It was a little mazy at first but we got the hang of navigating the place and found the main castle in no time. Along the way we whipped out our cameras and went trigger happy. I took quite a number of photos of my dearie in action and she looked so cute! And of course some cam-whoring was performed..hahaha.
There are these ancient samurais in costumes walking around and taking photos with the visitors and dear was like so infatuated with one of them lor! Keep looking at him and talking about him..so irritating! Already have such a dude bf already still looking at other guys. Haizzz...
We climbed all the way to the top of the castle and thanks to the good and sunny weather, we had a great view of the city from there. Overall the castle was quite an interesting place and I have to mention that Pooky also had a big part in here as well, appearing in numerous photos! lolz.
We exited the compound and went over to Hosokawa Residence, former home of one of the most powerful family in the history of Japan. Quite an elaborate place, just nice for us play around and take photos in there!
It got dark soon around 4plus and we went back into town. We recce the place and decided on a bbq buffet for dinner. It was good! Ala Carte BBQ buffet was definitely the way to go during winter. Had fun grilling the meat with my dearie. She still can't understand how I can eat so much despite eating 1 whole bowl of rice till now. Neither can I. Hahaha. There was a price to pay for this amazing dinner though, we totally smelled like BBQ since the place was really poorly ventilated.
Spent some time in those discount watsons-like stores getting snacks and checking out beauty products for dear. The nice thing about Kumamoto is that it is not packed with people like Tokyo. We were able to move around and stroll to our hearts content.
Loving the trip!
