"I .....Love.... This ..... City!!!!!"
Krakow - you are a jewel in the heart of Europe!
We went up to Krakow castle this morning. It was very castley and huge and ornate and full of amazing artifacts and furniture and art. Got to see Da Vinci's "Lady with an Ermine".
We got back around lunch time ("what lunch time was that?" says Lauren and Audrey , who didn't eat one) and via our telephonic devices organized to meet up with our Polish family.
We got to the square and there they were and there we were too.
Mum's cousin Gabriela, her daughter Kasia, Kasia's boyfriend Paul, Gabriela's daughter Basia and Basia's son Tyberiusz.
I saw Gabriela, Kasia and Basia 21 years ago when Vanessa and I visited Poland. It is so good to see them. Kasia now lives in Lincoln with Paul and they flew over to Poland for this weekend which was so fantastic. Her younger sister Ewa was not able to come as she had a prebooked holiday, which was a shame but totally understandable. We will be able to catch up with her over skype and next time we come over, or when she comes to Australia. After hugs and coffee, we went back to our apartment to catch up and then we went out for dinner at Oberza Sasiadou.
Great food and massive amounts of it. Duck and pork knuckles, lamb and beetroot with horse radish. Salads and buckwheat and potatoes and sauerkraut and more meats. All on massive boards that covered the table and our resolve. We attempted to dent the huge amount of food but it looks like the lumber loaded with food came out on top. After the meal, Kasia, Paul, Gabriela and I had Irish coffee. I swear the cup was at least half whiskey. We swirled out into the Polish night air, then it was off to Finka club for drinks. They had a DJ and it had a very cool vibe.
I started doing my very best Uma Thurman circa Pulp Fiction dance which may have been a bit too much because suddenly the rest of my family decided it was time to go home.
