We awoke early and walked through a little fir forest to get to the lagoon.
Then breakfast in the forest courtesy of Rita. We packed up and headed down to Nida. The southern most Lithuanian part of the Coronian Spit. Beyond that is Russian territory - a section of land that is geographically separate to the rest of Russia. Kalingrad is in that section. We walked up massive sand dunes that gave us a view if the lagoon on one side, the Baltic Sea on the other, and We could see the watch tower an Flag of Russia in the forest. It was a decent walk up and down the dune- and after that we drove up the spit and stopped at Juodkrante for lunch. Of all the Kavinas there, we decided to walk into one - there was only one other coue there in the outdoor dining area. I joked to Audrey as we walked in, looks like we will be having lunch with Viggo , because the man from behind looked like Aragon.... And then he turned around, and it was him. He was having a lovely time with his companion, and them prepared to leave. My friend Sue is THE biggest Viggo Mortensen fan ever, and I knew she would want me to take a photo of him, so I walked up, and just as he came out of the toilet (I didn't realize it was a toilet at the time) I said to him, "excuse me, I don't normally do this, but my friend is a huge fan of you, so would I please be able to take a photo of you?"
"only if you are in it too" he replied.
So I had to take a selfie with Viggo. The first 2 failed, then he said, take another because he looked away. Then I accidentally put it on video instead of still. After a minute - I had the photo. He thanked me and shook my hand. I said,"no, thank you- and .... I loved your work in The Indian Runner." he stopped and turned and said, "oh, yeah.... Thanks a lot"
What a nice guy!
The rest of the day was taken up with driving the 4 hours back to Vilnius. Long drive. Got back to our apartment and we were able to give Vanessa a call and sing her happy birthday.
