Hello All.
Quick update since our last entry. After Saigon we headed down to the Mekong delta for a couple of days. Not a huge amount to report other than its all very green and mangrovey (if that's a word?). Lots of little canal ways through various islands in the delta. We were also taken to various local industries i.e honey making, coconut sweet making....tourist rip off making etc etc.. all very interesting. Our guide was a numpty, which was a shame since he detracted from the beauty of the place.
We spent a night in a 'homestay' where we stayed with a local family ate with them and chatted. Was a very nice place and the food was very good, some of the best we've tasted since we've been in Vietnam ( the food is no where near the class of cambodia, no curries at all! and everything taste like celery or pepper).
After this tour we were dropped off at a town called Cantho to make our own way down to the coast at Rach Gia. after a cramped mini bus later we arrived in a town that we don't think sees a lot of westerners. If staring was a sport the vietnamese would be up for the gold.
One night here ( that was enough) we got a ferry to an island off the coast called Phu Quoc, or as steph pronounces it "for Cock" and her love for it is great......the island!
The beaches here were idyllic. White sand, palm trees over hanging the beach. We stayed 3 days to top up our tans ( you know how it is)
We couldn't face a 2 hour ferry, 12 hour bus to siagon, over night stay then another 12 hours to Nha Trang..we're just getting lazy these days, we got a plane instead. Much Much better.
Nha Trang is great. Lots of night life, a huge beach and cheap beer. I think we'll be here a while.
Hope everyone's good and let us know of any important news
Take care Rob and Steph x
