Hey Blogfans!!
This will probably be our last blog now. We'll have to prepare for our journey home tommorrow. We're leaving the hostel at 3pm and will get back to London at 7am the next day!
Today we decided to make one more dash around trying to fit in all the sites we missed previously. We stopped and had a look at the National Library, which is absolutely gorgeous!! It was built in 1911 and cost $29,000,000 to make (back in those days, would be so much more now). We were thoroughly impressed, Tim pointed out that 700,000,000 pounds was spent on Wembley.. and you still have to sit on plastic seats... In the National Library, everything is very elegant, the staircases and big, the ceilings are tall and its all beautiful marble. Money well spent.
Next we headed over to Grand Central Station- the biggest train station in the world. It houses a heap of shops and a is a great spot to find some great food. They had everything from mexican to chinese to indian and a cupcake stand. Felt pretty sad though, as lovely as the station is, it is also home to alot of homeless people. We saw lots of people rummaging in the bins and begging for money and food.
After eating, we headed over to have a look at the Chrysler building. It's very impressive - over 70 floors high. Around the Chrysler building are some other buildings that are interesting to look at - one looked wooden, and like the outside had been carved into and another had a chequerplate look all over the exterior.
We headed over to 1av and 46st to see the United Nations Building and were pretty unimpressed. It was just a very tall and boring looking building, so we decided to walk back to Times Square and see if we could catch a last minute broadway show. Unfortunately none of the ones we fancied on Broadway were on and the ones off Broadway like Stomp are miles away.
So that pretty much sums up our New York Adventure. Im sure we will be back in the future to do it all again in the sunshine :)
Of the last 6 months, we have loved every minute and would not change a thing. We have learnt so much and met so many people from all over.
