Delighted to hear from you and to see some terrific pics of you and Niamh and Henry, with and without a beard. Is there is a story that explains a sudden swerve from Cairns to Perth?! Your great grand aunt (Walsh's side) was Reverend Mother in the Dominican Convent in Perth, so be sure to go to the Convent and ask if there are any extent relatives around (noting the spirit of the times). At home the big news the Leader of the DUP, Mr. Robinson has been betrayed by his wife who went off with a man 40 years her junior and paid him 50,000k for the privilege, then, once he "saw the light" (biblical terminology necessary) she cast him out into outer darkness and demanded the money back. Look it up on the internet. You couldn't invent the story. Here, we've all been snowed in and the Government is of course to blame. Your mother has been rewarded with three days off school and he is using the time to go shopping for cheap duvets and socks. Can we talk via Skype phone again?
With all our love.

Dad
Dearest Son,
We had hoped that after 10 days in Beer, Devon, England that we would hear from our son on his journeys around the globe in written form, alas, nothing, not even a sunset in Thailand, or a picture of a fish, or Henry in scuba diving gear, or a picture of Niamh and Eoghan on a veranda, being served a local delicacy on a dish, do try and invent something exciting lest Dad will have to make it up that you are abroad. Remember the story of the man who went around the world on a solo boat race, only to find out he got as far as the Canaries but wrote his story anyway of how he defeated storms in Terra del Fuegon and fended off pirates in the Pacific.
We at least had 7 beers in Beer, looked at 4 hours of Hamlet on the TV (yes, a re-make), found an ancient stone on Charmouth Beach and sang hymns at Evensong in Exeter Cathedral on Christmas Eve.
Sending our love.
Da and Ma.
