We knew today would be a big day - we planned to visit the Louvre and see the Mona Lisa, visit Notre Dame Cathedral and then take a Siene night cruise and a bus tour of the major sights of Paris.
Very touristy!
The best thing about today was the news that I had become a great Aunty again - congratulations to Teneale and David.
A real experience was the ride on the Metro - we managed that easily. They are very quick and a good way to get around.
The Louvre was impressive - huge!!! The Mona Lisa - not so huge! We all enjoyed walking around Napoleon's apartments - such opulence.
You would need too many hours to see it all and we didn't have that many. Rachael and I wanted to see works by Manet and Monet but we were in the wrong museum - next time we will visit the Musée d'Orsay.
This afternoon we walked to the Notre Dame Cathedral for a look-see. We didn't go in as the lines were very long and we had limited time till our Siene boat cruise.
The cruise was fantastic - though very cold. A different perspective on some of the things we had already seen and we learnt a bit more about Paris.
The bus tour was great too though again cold as we were in an open-topped bus. This time we got to see some extra sites that we weren't going to get to like the Paris Opera, Moulin Rouge (trying to imagine where Nicole Kidman resided as Satine), and Montmarte. These are for my next visit.
A quick ride home in the Metro and our time in Paris is almost complete.
No touristy things tomorrow - except the Eurostar - as we travel to London.
