Sunday 15 October 2006 - Dunedin City
An afternoon to see the sights of Dunedin. First stop Cadbury's World! Sunday not the best day as the machines don't run so opted for the brewery tour instead!
Walked around the City seeing the most photographed building in New Zealand! The Railway Station - took a picture!! Then on to the University of Otago but wouldn't let us sign up! So off to Speight's Brewery we went!
Spent an hour learning all about the beer making process. They started the tour with a mouthwatering Speight's advert! So the beer tasting bit was pretty much all we were thinking about! Tried some of the ingredients - not as nice as the final product! But finally the beer tasting bit came!
6 types of Speight's to try - (chocolate, pilsner, distinction ale, pale ale, dark and speight's gold medal). We were given the time it took for the adverts to finish (about 10 mins) to try as much as we could! Self service.. trick was to fill and drink while queing to go again! Rita had never drank so fast! Adverts coming to an end, pressed play again but apparently this had been done before by other groups - he was on to us, but we settled for one more!
Tried them all, speight's gold medal being the best so went to the pub next door for a couple more. Rugby was on so got to see the Haka in New Zealand.
Monday 16 October 2006 - Dunedin - Christchurch
Leaving Dunedin we stopped at Baldwin Street (the World's steepest street). Brad made it to the top, scary ride back down.
Next stop Shag Point, still searching for penguins for Sel..... couldn't find any but found yet more seals! On to Moeraki Boulders. Drove through Oamaru and past Waimate onto Christchurch.
