Rita & Ellie's Travels
Tuesday 8 August 2006 - San Francisco
Headed into town for a day of sightseeing beginning the tour at Crooked Street, the world's most windy street.
Walked by the shops spotting a man disguising (?!) himself holding tree branches aiming to scare everyone. Having spotted him he warned us "I'll get you next time!" Laughed him off until the way back, he certainly got Ellie who screamed and jumped a mile! So embarrassing. Can you believe he wanted paying for this 'service' as well! Ellie felt better when he managed to get Rita later on that afternoon too..... Doh!
Met our fellow trekkers Lou & Rich at Fisherman's Wharf to go to Alcatraz, prison on the rock. Had an audio tour, learning all about the 'escapes' (or lack of!).
Back to Pier 39 to see the Sea Lions before making our way to the Cable Car (basically a tram!) where we rode it up Hyde Street, the steepest street. A quick stop in Tommy's Joint, the bar made famous by Metallica. Off to China Town, via Kearney Street - the street used in the Sony ad where the bouncy balls were thrown down.
Said our goodbyes to our fellow trekkers (drinking buddies) and made our way to the Golden Gate Bridge to get the bus back to Santa Rosa.
