We arrived in ica after a particularly awful bus journey and hoppped in a cab straight to Huaccachina which is a desert oasis about 3 km from Ica. Again we had another tourism taxi driver who took us to a hostel he reccommended, it was ok as there are only about 10 hostels in the whole place, which is really tiny. The hostel was ok, we had a double room with en suite for cheap and the breakfast was really good, lots of fruit and cooked eggs and bread. We had a look around the lagoon for which everything is centred on, but needed to sleep so went back to the hostel. The weather was particularly nice, really overcast which was a shame as the hostel has a very inviting pool. We went out for dinner to a resturant on the lagoon, I had a massive steak and chips and rory had their chicken dish of the day which was pretty amazing we went back to the hostel for happy hour but found the outside bar closed so just went to bed. Woke up to more cloud so dediced to leave for cuzco that evening, we went to ica and brought our ticket, the hostel owner had been pestering us about the sandboarding tour everytime we saw him, so when we got back we asked for our nights money back and discount on the tour, this guy instantly switched and turned on a real nasty tone to his voice and started to say we couldnt have our money back, rory entered a rather heated debate with the guy and eventually he gave us our money back. We then went sandboarding in the afternoon which was so much fun and better than last time as they take you around in dune buggies, it was pretty terrifying as the driver was throwing this thing all around the place and going up and oer dunes with massive drops on the other side. We went down about 5 slopes which got progressiely steeper, he warned us not to really sand board on the slopes as they were dangeruos so we went down on our front laying down on our fronts which was much more fun than sandboarding and you could go really fast. We then drove back as the sun was setting which made the journey even scarier. We then had happy hour drinks in our hostel with the sandboarding lot which was a shame as there was an american and english guy who were really fun but we had to get out 17 hour bus to cuzco.
