The Flight
Following the last supper, a fantastic send off at the family and friends meal at possibly the greatest Indian restaurant known to man, mom and dad kindly chauffeured us to Heathrow to say a last tearful goodbye before the journey of a life time commenced. Just before we begin the first episode of this adventure I would like to say a massive thank you to both my parents and Rina's parents who have been exceptional over the past few months in a number of ways and have made this trip possible. Even last night after the meal Mom was up until after midnight preparing sandwiches for the journey, with dad then driving us all to Heathrow at some ungodly hour this morning.
Another big thank you to all lads who made the efforts to travel from far and wide last weekend for the boys night out, a "belter" would be the best way to describe the night.
And finally a huge thank you must go to you know who….as this "lad" that has certainly delivered. After checking in the already renowned T5 at Heathrow, which I must say is in the champions league of airports, we were kindly presented with a upgrade to business class, who said backpacking was a tough ah?!!!!
Sitting in tandem sits that recline to 90 degrees by remote control, sipping on several glasses of Kir Royale Champagne and being wiped down with a hot flannel has further fuelled by determination to get rich. In true Leeds Uni style we are taking full advantage of the complimentary bar and mom you certainly wont be surprised to hear that I am making use of the various culinary delights on offer curtsey of international chef Liam Tomlin featuring "Grilled Shrimp and Smoked Salmon".
Whilst I am loving being pampered I can foresee a major problem, in that I may struggle when we pitch up for our first night in a six-person dorm in Rio, my plan is to be drunk to remember!!!!! Unlike me, Rina has decided on the sensible option, instead tacking advantage of the luxurious reclining seats/beds which granted is probably going to be the most comfortable bed that will be experienced over the next six months…typical women.
