We got back from the caves yesterday about 4:00PM and that gave the kids some time to swim. After swimming a group of us decided to take our kids and eat at Denny's. The group ended up consisting of 14 kids and 8 adults. It may shock you, but it did not go as smoothly as you would think. Some kids ordered too much, others didn't get there food, and others had trouble sitting at a table with 13 other kids. After two hours, we were finally done and we headed back to the hotel and called it a night.
This morning the kids went back to the school where they had a fun morning playing games and running around. While the kids were at schooI, I went for a run. Today I ran the opposite direction of Old San Juan toward the Condado. The Condado is a narrow strip of land with a lot of hotels, apartments, and restaurants. I scoped out a beach with waves that we may take advantage of tomorrow morning.
We (the parents) arrived at the school around noon and we all had lunch. The school gave us all t-shirts (that you can see in the album I will post) which was nice and unexpected.
After the school, the group was off to a public beach, where we saw a presentation/concert by a PR percussion group. It was good and some of our group got up and danced. For dinner we ate at strip of stalls that offered a lot different authentic PR foods. I had some empanadas and a delicious pina colada smoothie (see the photo in the album). The boys all had something similar.
After dinner it was off to the Bio Bay. We got to a beach and boarded kayaks. We then set out through a mangrove swamp to a lagoon. The lagoons was filled with plankton that would light up when the paddle or hand touched the water. We started out at dusk, so by the time we got to the lagoon it was dark. The way back proved to be a little more difficult as we had to navigate the mangrove swamp in the dark. There were a number of kayak pile-ups, but we finally made it out and back to shore. We boarded the bus and as I write this we are pulling into the hotel. Another adventure awaits tomorrow.
