If I was to write down everything outrageous that has happened in bullet point form you'd be rattling through them for a couple of hours. I'm going to pick out a few doozies and blab on about them.
I'll start with the kai. Curry's here are delicious. Everything is spicy, including cheese on toast. A feast of food comes to about $6, big bottle of water 50c. No sign of rough guts yet, but I feel I've just jinxed myself saying that.
Our day started out yesterday at the Police Bazaar, a huge and extremely busy market that is the heart of Shillong. We were on a mission to gather goods for our Rickshaw that we named Aroha. She is a beautiful wee lassie. Classic Auto was our stop for all our replacement parts including clutch cables, brake pads, and an extra battery.
It's difficult to express the plethora of things going on at any one time. The saying "people for Africa" should really be "people for India". It's a feast on the senses, the smells both good and horrid and the people hocking their wares in every nook and cranny is absolutely incredible.
The highlight of the day had to be meeting Aroha and having a burn on her. Within 3 minutes she had packed a sad and refused to start. After opening the engine compartment and figuring out our spark plug cable was attached to nothing we managed to get her going and it's fair to say it felt good fixing it ourselves. A few runs up and down a hill and we were rickshaw extraordinaires. Now all there is left is to dodge a million other cars on the road come Sunday. Easy.
We got our mingle on with more teams over a few brews and chowed down on some food we couldn't pronounce or distinguish what it actually was. Delicious.
That is all for now.
