Hi Everyone. So its a month late but iv been a busy boy working in Perth so i could earn some money to even afford to get on to the internet! just kidding, but i have been working a lot and iv finally finished my job but ill get to that in the next blog.
So after having an awesome sunny time in Cairns alex left me a day early for his flight to Perth, i on the other hand had another tanning sesh in Cairns with plenty of other people from the hostel down by the bay and enjoyed some quiet time.
But along came the next day quicker than needed and a long 6 hour flight to Perth Via Sydney. I got on the flight and met some random ozzy guy who was going to work on a fishing boat in perth, which i took interest in untill he started talking about his childhood and all that stuff so i decided to sit with my headphone in and watch the amazing sunrise from the plane whilst he rambled on haha.
When i got to Perth it was raining, but to be expected at this time of year, and i called alex only to find out that Garath (kent) who we met in sydney was in our room at the hostel in northbridge! what a coincidence!
The whole point in Western Australia was to have an awesome road trip up and down the coast and see some real Oz so by the time i got there alex had got our wicked camper sorted out for the 9th of august for 3 weeks which we were both pretty excited about!! on a crazy night out before we left for the road we met a little lass from manchester called nicola who was 30 but looked like she was about 19 and turns out that she was looking for someone to head all the way up to broome with! well of course it would have only been rude for me and alex to say no to her offering us petrol money and a share in the van cost now wouldnt it! so the plan was set for her to join us! :)
So we had a couple of days to spend in perth before the road trip commenced and i remembered that cookie who me and rick met in mexico had sent me a message on facebook saying we could stay with him, so i called him up and me and alex headed down to see his crib. It was absaloutly awesome to see him and his house was shared with another ozzy lad called leon (barrel) and another lad called Nick. They lived literally 4 or 5 mins walk from the beach and you could see the horizon from the house, it was pretty cool. So me and alex decided to gain our energy levels for the road trip by smashing a whole load of BBQ and beer down us for a few days in a row before we left! ha!
We set off on the road trip in (vince) our van who you can see in most of the pic, who actually got us so far in his old age it was untrue. First off we hit the pinnacles which was a load of strange rock formations in the middle of the desert which you can see on the photos. it was awesome to see it at sunrise but i think we all felt a little scared at the same time! lol especially after sleeping in the van in the middle of nowhere!
next stop was kalbari national park on the coast which was a real nice place to chill out and look out over big gorges. We got there at perfect time too as it was whale mating season and we saw a couple from the coast! sight to see or what! Ill also mention just for funnies that we parked up in a car park for the night to sleep only to be awoken by a loud banging on the side of the van at like 7 in the morning to discover a ranger outside our van who certainly wasnt impressed we spent the night but we managed to fob him off with excuses and make out that we were new tourists and didnt have a clue, whoops! haha
next stop was geraldton which was basically just a nice coastline where we stayed, cooked food and got drunk :) after this we headed up to a small peninsula on the coast called money mia where we read that dolphins came upto you at the shore and swam round at dawn. So we got there and watched one amazingly beautiful sunset with a few beers and chilled by the calm coast, not a sound in the air but laps of ocean water, it was amazing.
The next morning we got up early and headed down to the beach where a huge crowd of people gathered waiting for the dolphins to come up to the shore. The rangers were in the water with buckets of food for them and everything! so as you can see from the photos the dolphins pretty much swam round our ankjles and alex even got to feed one of them! TWICE MAY I ADD!! haha Pretty special experience overall.
So our long LOOOOONG drive from monkey mia to karajini national park (our main destination) was well worth it. Most of the photos are from this national park and it was a truley beautiful place. There were 3 HUGE gorges with natural pools at the bottom of them and trail walks you could do up and down the cliffs. The walks were rated 1 to 5 in difficulty which were pretty challenging but well worth doing from the sights we saw. There were 3 or 4 different natural pools of water and waterfalls gushing down behind them. Nothing looked more amazing at the point when we saw this honestly it was hard to believe it was even real. Of course all 3 of us went swimming in them, and me and alex even jumped off the side of the gorge into one of the pools from like 12 metres high which we have videos of aswell :)
So me and alex had to face facts after this, we were well untruley skint and we couldnt make it to broome like we had told nicola, so she managed to get a life from karajini to broome with two irish guys and me and alex made our way back down the outback to perth which was a pretty long but interesting journey. We ended up stopping at several little ghost like mining towns full of proper scary things and people in which we thought we were gonna get killed at night when we slept in the van from all the abo's hanging around lol one of the places we stopped at on the way back down was like a camp site off the highway as we needed to stop and go to sleep but we pulled off onto this dirt track about 3 k's down and we ended up in the scariest place i have ever been in my life lol it was like the house and the yard off the texas chainsaw massacre, there were pots and pans hanging off tree's outside and weird old vans and tractors just abandoned so we both wanted to run and get out of there but we just HAD to knock on the house door and see who answered to find some weird old redneck ozzy guy standing there. I was pretty surprised he wasnt chewing straw! who told us the next free camp site was down the road so we just ran and drove off as fast as we could lol
after the monk town of new norcia and another long drive we got back to perth we discovered we had brought the northen weather with us too! :) as it was nearing spring and the sun was back. So we drove back to cookies with a huge crate of beer (sorry a "carton") and got wasted for birthday! haha Niuck had moved out and another two lass's had moved in, one called shaz and another called robyn. The four housemates turned out to be my house mates for the next 5 or 6 weeks! but ill get to that in the next blog too
So i decided it was time for me to find a job as i had no money and wasnt intending to go back to england till january as planned, and of course alex was flying into singapore on the 1st of september so whilst i job hunted, alex chilled and prepared himself for asia. It was pretty sad to see him go as he'd been my travel partenet for the past 2 months and was gutted i was gonna see him for a long time. So we said our goodbyes and continued into different parts of our adventure. Ill write a new blog from my 21st and my month of so working in perth pretty soon :)
Love Adam x x x
