BULA! We've left it too long again, we should start writing blogs the day we leave places. So Fiji... Fiji is brilliant and the people are what makes Fiji so amazing, thats a bit of a lie because the place is paradise! We arrived at Fiji early hours because we'd flown over night from L.A. We got a shuttle to a hostel called the horizon just outside of town. the main island in Fiji isnt really what people think of when they think of typical fiji, you have to get a boat out to the islands to exerience the white sandy beaches and beautiful clear waters. So we booked to go to Mana island the next day, which was ment to be amazing.
But we had a full day before then, so we decided to go into the heart of Nadi (the capital) we'd heard how amazing and friendly the fijian people were so when a fiji guy approched us in town asking what we were up to and wanted we thought he was just been friendly, so we told him we were looking for a nice place to eat, he said that he knew a nice place and would take us. so we followed him down the street for a good 10 minutes, we were getting some funny looks off people. but we continued to followed our friendly fijian Pedro anyway. When a police man stopped pedro and asked him where he was goin and what he was up to, me and adam kept on walking because we werent really sure what was goin on. we decided to sit down at a resturant and get some food, the waitress came over asking where we were walking around with that man, because he'd only got out of prison the week before for theifing, he was well known in the area apparently. lol me and adam thought he really wanted to help us, tho he was saying this place he knew was down an ally way... anyway
We arrvied on Mana island the next day despite getting on the wrong boat, we were welcomed by singing fijians, it was really cool. We spent 5days on Manna island. We went snorkling on the reef which was amazing, so many fish and beautiful coral. Also we walked around the island and hiked to the highest point, which gave us an fantastic view of all the surrounding islands.
We decided to do some fishing so me adam and our mate paul got one of the local guys to take us out on his boat. We just waited for the fish and had a few beers, it was so much fun. and we caught so many fish, you'll see the pictures. I think we caught over 12 fish, all decent size. two were sharks! We got caught in a storm while we were fishing but it just added to the excitment! We pretty much just lived off fish for the rest of our time in fiji. tey actually cooked all our fish for us ansd served us at lunch and dinner time.
Apart from fishing snorkling hiking and meeting some great people we just laid on the beach and went in the water. Thought we better relax before All the fun of New Zealand!
