Rich & Beths World Tour
Hi everyone
Our last day in Saigon was spent visiting Cu Chi tunnels. Cu Chi people set up their homes in Cu Chi and when they were under threat from the Americans they dug 200km of underground tunnels to protect themselves. It was a really interesting day and we got to experience what it must have been like for the Cu Chi people to live in these tunnels by crawling around inside them. They were small, dark, very hot and very claustrophic so Rich opted out and left the sweating to me!
The following day we set off on our trip up the Mekong Delta which was to take us into Cambodia. The trip involved visiting a sweet factory, a cotton factory and taking a ride in a minature boat up the river wearing the lovey tradiational Vietnamese hats, Rich was given a lovely pink one so he looked just beautiful. We met a fab couple on the trip who we are hoping to meet up with again in Sydney. We spend the night in Chau Doc after lots of boat and coach journeys and then continued on another boat the following day arriving in Phom Penh in the evening. All in all. the Mekong Trip was really great. It was a fantatsic way to depart Vietnam as the scenery and islands we visited were really beautiful and we met some more local people.
Our final words on Vietnam are: beautiful county, lots of history, lots of countryside and great diverse towns to visit. We'd recommend it to anyone.
Lots of love Beth and Rich
