Hi everyone
We are now in a town called Noosa, which is on the sunshine coast about two hours north of Brisbane! Since Beth last updated we've been quite busy really. We followed up Bryon Bay with a trip to the extremely artificial and not so quaint Surfers Paradise. To be honest its not really a paradise, but the beach is cool and its a great base for doing some of the other attractions.
One of these attractions saw us turn back the years and head off to a water park to slide around on rubber boats for the day! Some of the rides were more like themepark rides than water slides and we had a great day! We also did an organised bar crawl in Surfers which was a bit of a let down; there were two hundred of us on it and as such we spent most of the night stuck in queues and waiting for those who werent coping so well with the pace!
After Surfers we made our way on to Brisbane with the hope of meeting up with my mum's cousin Andrew who lives over here. We managed to arrange to meet up and spent four of the best days of the trip with them. A particular highlight, was a trip to Andrew's beach house in Caloundra and then going to watch Australia play Paraguay on Saturday night! Unfortunately despite some exciting play they were undone by a bit of a gaffe by the Ozzie keeper and defender! Hilarious to us, but slightly more disappointing to Andrews youngest, Elliot! In addition to all this we also managed to fit in a trip to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo (the tributes are quite amazing really and the feeding of the crocodiles show, does remind you of the great man!!)
Brisbane itself as Andrew would admit (so i can get away with saying this!!) is not really built for tourists and is more geared towards living and working. Despite this we made the most of our stay there and sought out some cool arichtectual sights and a few pretty parks (such a stressful life we have here eh?!!!)
Sunday saw us leave Brisbane and head up to Noosa. Its really cool here if a little pricey, we spent the first day (yesterday) at the beach followed by a pool competition in our very friendly and chilled Hostel (I made the final but my game of snookers which chimpy and Dan will be familiar with, couldn't carry me to the forty dollar prize - got a free drink though!
Today we have visited the Noosa national park for a a stretch of the old legs and to get some air, apparantly you can see koalas and all sorts, but the best we managed was some dead frogs and an eagle like creature - not quite David Attenborough eh?!!
Despite only having been here two days, we can realy appreciate why Noosa has its reputation for stress free, chilled out life, nothing has any urgency to it and the people are really friendly.
The next week or so sees us travel to Fraser Island for a three day camping trip and then sailing around the Whistunday Islands before making our way up to Cairns, from where Beth will most likely update you!
Hope everyone is well
Lots of Love Rich & Beth xxx
