Hello Everyone,
It has been awhile since I have last written something. Life has been very busy with our last couple excursions, which I hope everyone has seen the pictures of them by now, and also with all of my exams and presentations, which went very well.
The first set of pictures that I posted is of my excursion to Segovia, Toledo, and Burgos. All of these cities have some of the oldest and most interesting history behind them in all of Spain. They were very fun to see. The other set is of our excursion to the Picos de Europa where we were able to take a cable car to the top where there is a restaurant and have lunch and walk around a bit. Also in this area, we visited a monastery where they claim to have a piece of the cross that Jesus died on and we were all able to walk up and touch it. I believe that this is one of four places in the world that has a piece of it.
Once the excursions were finished up we all went to studying a lot for all of our finals, but still had an opportunity to go to a soccer game. I was able to see the Spain All Star team, which played here in Santander against the US. Spain won 1-0. It was really awesome to see the game. Now Spain is playing in the Eurocopa 2008, a tournament between 16 of the best countries in Europe. Right now Spain is in the quarterfinals and they play again this Sunday. Can't Wait!!
Finals finished up last week and afterwards we all had a group dinner with all of our teachers and afterwards we all went out to the bars. It was really great having the last night to hang out with everyone. Everyone that was in my group has left to travel around Europe for awhile or back to the States.
Two weekends ago, I decided to take a small trip myself up to Dublin for the weekend and I was able to see my grandparents, which was really great. I wish we could've had more time; it was really great seeing them. We toured around Dublin seeing the sights, the cathedrals, Dublin castle, Guinness Factory, Jamison Whiskey Factory, and more. (The important things, Guinness and Jamison!)
Right now I am back in Santander waiting to hear from a Priest down in Valladolid about a job where I will be teaching English for the rest of the summer. I am really looking forward to this, but I still have not heard back from him yet (which I hear is quite normal for me to have to wait this long). It is a little frustrating since I am not doing anything at the moment, but Mino is great and is letting me live with him until I move to Valladolid.
I wanted to thank everyone for the Birthday wishes. I had many messages and emails from friends and family and it was great hearing from everyone. My plans are changing often, but right now I am planning on taking a trip to Santiago de Compastela, which is one of the biggest pilgrimage sights here in Spain. I have been talking with a lot of people here about where they suggested I take a trip to and that was it. Everyone has told me it is incredible.
Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and I will post some pictures soon about my trip to Dublin, the football game, and our final dinner with everyone. Thanks again for everything.
