I'm happy to say that 3 days in Bangkok feels like the right amount. we've seen a few sights, enjoyed some good food but now it is time to move on. The city is just SO different from anything I've experienced before, everything feels new, fresh and as a result of that interesting! Today we collected our visas from the Vietnamese embassy and managed to see nearly all of Bangkok in the process of looking for a cheap, reliable bus company. this task was not made easy by the 15kg+ kit that I have to carry on my back in 40' heat! Having already eaten noodles for breakfast we caved on day three and bought a pizza, I feel so ashamed! We then got a minibus for about 5 hours to the Thai border with Cambodia , which is when I realized I had a talent for falling asleep on uncomfortable modes of transport, one of the better abilities for a traveler! Having moved out of the city, my favorite thing so far has been the number of geckos! They are everywhere which may explain the lack of Mosquitos at the moment. We rented a hotel room in Aranyaprathet as the border is closed at the time of night we have arrived. Now this hotel room is certainly a change from the hotel in Bangkok but what can you expect for about a pound or two each for a start the bed had visible bed bugs, the floor was sticky with I don't want to know, the tap broke on first use, the floor had glass on in the corners which probably explained the blood on the bath mat having said all this it did have wifi! Took me a little while to get to sleep that night, not because of the room but the three of us were just laughing our heads off at the situation. Cambodia here we come!
