upat half 7, awesome free breakfast involving toast, jam, orange juice, coffee and crackers. had a chat with a girl from bournemouth who literally couldnt stop talking. who knew you could make the answer to the question "alright?" last 45 minutes!?! i nearly missed my bus as i struggled to get away!

i planned to go to poas volcano and had to get the 9am bus up there. poas volcano is still active and last erupted in 1995 i think. its 2700 metres above sea level, rather chilly up there and is surrounded by heaps coffee plantations. the main crater was massive, 300 meters deep, 1.3km across and was steaming away. i was quite lucky because there wrent many clouds about so got some quality snaps. did a hike along another trail which leads to a now dormant, smaller crater and then had a look around their little info centre.

got the bus back to alajuela at 2pm. back at the hostel, i was the only one about so took advantage of this by using their free internet for as long as i wanted without having to stick to the usual 20 minute limit. also spent some time in the evening planning what i could do for the next few days in San Jose.
