Jeff - I´m missing horror night too (Sunday night is officially takeaway and horror movie night). You´re not allowed to watch Saw III without me!
I think it was Nats that asked what the food was like over here - well the truth is we have never eaten so well in our lives. Not because the average Peruvian eats well, but the food is so cheap that we can afford to eat out at some pretty swish restaurants. Most evenings (its called tea by the way, not dinner) we eat with the guys that we are touring round with and some of these places would fit in on a swanky street in London. The soups are always good - much better than you´re average UK soup; my favourite soup contained chunks of meat, a tangy sauce, pasta, a piece of crusty bread and a fried egg on top. Usually the most expensive fillet steak on the menu is about 20-22 peruvian nuevo soles, which is about three pound fifty! Get in. We´re still trying all the local stuff for example alpaca (pretty flavourless) and guinnea pig (tastes like chicken - what a surprise!).
Ciao ciao

Hey guys,
Just back from my wee holiday...10days in the sun sounds pathetic compared to yours but t was much needed and I had a fab time! Dubai is amazing, so full of contrasts and ecclectic people. I went out to the desert which was great, and the sand there is red not white like in your photo. We went dunebashing, which is driving out into the desert in a four-wheeled drive and then going flying over the dunes and skidding sideways down them-scary but fun :-) Im back at the gallery on thursday for the Douglas Gordon exhibition which'll pass time and keep the pennies coming in until I can afford to do something exciting like you too!
Hope its all going well and look after each other!
See you soon, love Shona xox

Hi there you two,
Just a quick hi and then to bed before another busy day at the chalk face. Will give Dad all the instructions and get him to message you on Thursday. We had a lovely weekend at Sally and Graham's. Bonfire party on Sat night. We were still sitting round the embers of the fire long after 1am with Annie cuddled up in her duvet fast asleep. Tom, Danielle,Matthew and Jo send their love. I've given them your website details so they can join the envious group of readers logging on. I tried to show Graham your site on Sunday but their computer was playing up. Anyway needless to say they also send their love. On Sunday we had a slow, rather hungover start to the day followed by a slimmers brunch, NOT!!! just a fw calories! We then went to Crosby beach to see Anthony Gormley's iron men, interesting but not quite on the scale of Machu Picchu. Tom is off to Afghanistan in Jan and will be back about the same time as you. I think we are going to book the cottage in the Lakes for a weekend in April and then hopefully we can all get together.
I am really jealous that you are going to Lake Titicaca. I can remember drawing a map and pictures of it in my Geography book when I was at school, I think it was the name I was fascinated with. Send me a picture.
Yawn, yawn - time for bed.

Hey guys,
Glad to read that all is well and you haven't upset any natives or been accused of being South American drug lords just yet. (Always knew thats why Sarah was going to S.America). And with the 'take coke to make you feel better' chat... well thats how it always starts .
Seriously though, sounds amazing, and from my extremely cosy office (its roasting in here actually) South America sounds pretty damn fantastic!
Keep exploring and have a great time!

Hola amigos!Just been looking at your photos and reading your message board etc.Sounds amazing as usual! Ive been to a bonfire night at Whitley Bay tonight with Pitt and Steve and just munched an Indian takeaway to death! Bit of a contrast to you guys! Ah well, I''ll get saving now and then I can jet off when/if i graduate(haha....can actually hear mum shouting 'IF you graduate!!!'haha)
Also been planning my third year...getting a bit hectic already!Think Im going to go to France and work for a couple of months then do about 5 months teaching in Spain. Just got to decide where exactly I want to go. Been looking on the internet but of course they just show the pretty pictures of the towns and say nice things.
Been ill for about 2 weeks which has been a tad annoying. Got a bad cold which i thought id gotten rid of but of course it developed into a throat infection as usual. So went to the docs and they gave me antibiotics which for some reason made me even more ill and spent the next 2 days throwing up with pains shooting through my belly....yumyum!Anyway, got them changed but gonna be on antibiotics for another week.Nevermind!Im on reading week now so got time to recover.
Don't think ive got anything very interesting to tell you, everything sounds a bit boring compared to you guys! Can't say ive been trekking through any jungles recently...not this week anyway!
Lots and lots of love to you both!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sarah
Helllooooo, all you wonderful friends and family! Its great being away and seeing all this amazing stuff but it is also so so lovely getting your messages and knowing how many wonderful frends we have at home!! so thanks for your messages :-)
We have been really lucky with our tour group in South America too (its called Tucan Tours Sarah) and made some really great friends really quickly. You kind of have to when you are with them so much of the time, and discussing with the girls which bush is best to pee behind at the inca trail camping point, or whether your boyfriend wore long johns to bed at the highest and coldest stop over of the hike, is all kind of friendship bonding stuff!! We already have 3 more places to stay in NZ and all 3 of the other 4 young girls on the tour all ride so we have lots to chat about (poor Richard - even on the other side of the world there is no getting away from it!!
As you will see from the journal (Richard is currently writing away) we have done the Inca Trail and been to the jungle for a few days in the last week. Just incredible. We are trying to relax too Beth!! Dont worry, but the tour itself is so fast paced its hard to catch propper down time! I cant believe that even i think its all a bit busy! (probably not quite hectic enough for you tho Susie!! - just kidding- just a few weeks now till we see you and shane-cant wait)
Sarah - good luck for the next half term. How is your mum getting on? Out of plaster yet?
Becky / Beth - Dont worry i have discovered the merits of coke and coka cola!! Drinking one or two bottles a day to keep the bugs away!!
Beth - So glad you enjoyed the wedding and New York. Did Mary and Renata and the rest of the gang manage to go too?
Jo - Good luck with the new job - let me know how it goes. You will be fine, starting uni again but getting paid -how bad can it be?? One of the girls im travelling with has just spent the past year in the UK nannying for a polo playing family - she doesnt know michael!! I mean how could she not!! I was trying to do the polo chat!!
Fiona- good luck for the comp on the 15th let me know how it goes!! Tell jude to log onto our site it would be lovely to hear from her.
Best go, love to you all, Sarah xx
Beth
hey guys!
Just took a quick scoot at your blog, it's so lovely to read what you've been up to and see pics! I'm glad you're both well, after what sounds like some pretty hairy bus rides! Keep up the website, it's great for us to check now and again, and makes us feel expremely jealous we aren't with you! Oh, and well done Richard at looking after Sarah! I'm adding to the list of advice....that actually Coke,...wait yes Coka Cola (not the other stuff as suggested below!) is really good for stomach upsets, kills all known germs! I had one a day when in India after meals and didn't get sick once. Also, buying in local yoghurt aparantly does a good job at climatising your stomach to local bacteria.....sorry, not really nice conversation...i'll move on!
Well, i'm ridiculously jet lagged after flying in from NY yesterday! Won't go into too much detail, but had an awesome time.... just loved the whole arty scene out there and pretty much did everything, inclusing just generally walking round and exploring lots of Soho, Greenwich Village and Chinatown. Wedding was beautiful, just a completely different experience to a British one, and lots of fun being involved in rehearsal dinners and bridesmaids luncheons. Then, headed back into NY to stay with a friend in Brooklyn....thankfully i had no problems, and quickly mastered the subway. Although my friend tells me she's the only white person on her block, and the newspapers with daily shootings on did little to convince me to move out permenantly!
Will tell you more soon!
enjoy each moment of your trip (i know you will) and take time to chill out too, sound like you've been doing tons!
sending love from chilly UK,
Bethy

Hey everyone,
Sorry I don´t have time to update you properly on what we´ve been up to... I´ve just got a few minutes before I´ve got to go back to the hotel (packing stuff for three days in the jungle and then going out for dinner with some of our new travelling buddies).
I´m sat here on my own because Sarah is having a massage!! Apparently they are amazing - full body massage, over an hour for about 13 UK pounds. I think she thinks she deserves it after the walking that we´ve done over the past few days.
In summary - the Inca trail was AMAZING! Definitely made some memories that will last forever. Keith, sorry I did it without you! Tim & Jo you´d love it too (Jo my advice for Sat - kick on!). Becky - don´t worry I´ve been chewing on my coca leaves which really seem to help with the altitude but make you´re mouth go numb- Sarah hates it because they stink.
Sounds like not a lot has changed in the UK. Rob - Best of luck fella in the new job. I´m going to miss you if I come back to work (only joking Carl). Nats - do some work, I don´t care if there´s a NEXT sale on.
Catch ya later, RJW
Becky
