Hello from Auckland! It's our last night here before picking up the camper and hitting the road tomorrow!

Our hostel is in a place called Freemans Bay and is a 10 minute walk from the Auckland Skytower. Our first day here we went up the tower and spent ages looking at the views which were fantastic, especially out over the Hauraki Gulf. Had a drink in the cafe and watched people doing the sky jump off the building - looked a bit tame compared to bungee jumping! Spent the rest of the day wandering round.

Next day we didn't wake up till 1.30pm - oops! Didn't feel too bad about that as we've done alot of flying and walking and we needed our beauty sleep. Anyway, took the ferry to Devonport which was lovely. Walked up Mount Victoria (an old volcano but its very small), then wandered along a gorgeous little beach and then up North Head which was once a defence fort.

Today we took the ferry to Waiheke Island and spent the day relaxing on the beach and walking around the village of Oneroa which had some amazing houses and views!

We've really liked it in Auckland, it feels laid back here, and when in the suburbs you wouldn't think the city is just minutes away.

Very excited to be picking up the camper though, think we're going to head for the beach. There's a surf festival going on in Piha on the west coast at the moment so sounds like a good place to start....
