A bit of a lie in, a late breakfast and a walk through the suburbs of Marrakech rounded off our time here. Its been wonderful to spend time on this adventure with Alex. We have both thoroughly enjoyed the full range of experiences in this fascinating country.

This morning we took an early morning walk through small agricultural pockets of land. There were many egrets to see plus the occasional donkey or two. The Todra Gorge is pretty awesome and last night we saw the results of a rockfall a few months ago when a restaurant and hotel complex was badly damaged. Fortunately with no casualties but it remains closed. The journey through oasis towns and river alleys was really enjoyable and we ended our day in a small Berber village. It was still dark as we got dressed and wrapped up warm against the cold chill of the morning. We were both excited to watch the night stars and wander a few hundred metres to where our camels were waiting. Over the dunes to a place where we dismounted to walk up a giant dune and to watch sunrise and the start of a new day here in the Erg Chebbi region of the Sahara.
