Hi all. Just arrived in Hong Kong this morning after an overnight flight from Johanasburg. Am very tired as I didn't get much sleep but have managed to keep going until now on adrenaline alone. HK is a mad place - the buildings are so big and there's loads of people on the streets wherever you go. I feel a lot safer than I did in South Africa though. Have been exploring today but the weather is crap so will probably do the touristy stuff over the next couple of days before flying out on Tuesday night for Nepal. I think three days is enough in HK as any more time and I'd get a headache! Sill, plenty of time to chill out in Nepal. I'll add some more photos when I can.
Hong Kong is a busy place but I've found the Metro is the best way to get around. Have explored most of the major areas but Hong Kong seems to be one giant shopping mall with huge complexes above every station.
The weather cleared up on my last day so after checking my luggage in at Hong Kong station (what a great idea) I headed up Victoria Peak on the Peak Tram. Even though it was still misty the views were spectacular and you really notice the huge contrast between the north of the island where all the skyscrapers are and the south which seems relatively undeveloped. I even managed to get chatted up by four Philipino hookers who explained that they were in the business of 'connecting people', but that business was poor. Before you ask Billy, no I didn't.
