Ric Flack's Travels
We were in Cozumel today. Our meeting time in the Walt Disney Theater was as 8:45 so we met for breakfast in Cabanas and then headed town to the theater.
When we checked in, we found out we were the only people on our excursion which we liked. However, we were headed to Playa Mia Beach where 400 other people from our ship were going to be. We did find out that cruise ships rarely port in Cozumel on Sundays and we were going to be the only ship in port that day.We were kept separate from the rest of the group and when we got to Playa Mia we were escorted to the kitchen where we met our chef/teacher Luis and his assistant Moses. We were offered drinks and then taught the correct way to wash our hands before preparing a meal.
During the next hour and a half, we learned how to prepare fried plantains with a chocolate tequila sauce, grouper with vegetables and a tamarind sauce and shrimp diablo in a sope. It was great just having the four of us with the teacher because we really got one on one interaction with him. After our meal was prepared we were taken to a room upstairs overlooking the ocean where we got to eat the food we prepared. Then we got to go spend time on the beach and in the pools. On the way in Kelsie found an area in the pool where lounge chairs were built in and I found that to be the perfect spot to relax and watch the clouds go by. Regan decided to get a hair wrap and Nikki must have had gallons of water to drink because she spent the afternoon back and forth to the restroom.
We headed back to the ship at 1:45 and Regan and Nikki got back on board and Kelsie and I shopped in port for a while. Nikki and Regan went and did a craft while Kelsie and I cleaned up after the shopping.
Nikki and I went to watch Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball and watched as Santa and Mrs Claus arrived on the ship. Anna and Elsa and the Disney Characters were there as well and Anna did make it snow.We still had time before dinner so I went to the Buena Vista Theater and watched the last of Pete’s Dragon
Dinner was in Tiana’s Place. They did a great job with the makeover. Tiana came to our table to welcome us to the restaurant. The food was delicious and there was a band that played the whole night. After dinner we tried to walk but it was quite windy. So we went to the DLounge to play The Feud. Then off to the Walt Disney Theater to see Michael Leon Wooley perform. He was the voice of Louis the Alligator in Princess and The Frog. He sang Disney songs and told stories including the story of how he got the role in the movie.
We knew that we had an early morning the next day so we turned in.
