If you're wondering why i keep using crap photos for the blogs its just because i can't be bothered looking through my album so i just pick the first one! Or if theres somethig very random in frot of me then i'll just take a picture of that!
Its 18:35 now and we're back at the hostel. We started off at noon today after a super long lie in. Got some brunch and headed straigh for the sagrada familia. It was incredibly big with a really creative edge. This goes for all of Gaudi's architecture we passed today, but just the scale of the building was so much to take in. It was just unfortunate that the queue was so big and we had so much other stuff to fit in today, so we decided not to go in. But nonetheless, the design of the exterior wowed me.
We headed to the metro to end up at the 'arc de triomf' a smaller replica of the real thing in france! It was an archway built out of red brick and allowed us to walk through an along a scenic promenade. The atmosphere was great, it was busy but not congested. There were just as many adults taking part in activities as the kids. Adults were cycling, dancing and learning to rollerblade. It was nice to see, definitely not something you'd find in britain.
We then lead towards several museums and galleries, passing the chocolate museum and the picasso museum which we didn't bother entering. The picasso museum had a massive queue too, so we decided to move on. I picked up a strawberry milkshake on the way :p it was nice.
The only place we paid to get into, which i mentioned in my previous blog, was the cathedral. Although we had seen so many already in italy, this one had a really nice outside garden square which had lots of "pretty" fountains and swans wandering in an enclosed area in the middle. Also, the 280ft roof which we got the lift up to. The view was great, but getting blown about wasn't.
Oh, i also have a serious case of the sniffles, so coldness isn't pleasant on my face lol
We then walked down the main street, la rambla, then turned off up towards some jew mountain. Mountain of jews?? Something like that haha! Now that was one uphill trek that near enough killed me. Halfway up we bought a bottle of 2.5l water each, which I carried in the rucksack!
At the top we were going to ride te cable car. But the ticket office only permitted one way tickets and looking into the distance at where the destination of the trip took the cars, it was in the middle of nowhere. Rico had a thing with talking about being quite terrified of the heights too, so we just took pics of the coastal port views. The clouds started closing in as the wind blew gravel into our faces. So on that note we headed back to the hostel!
Damn, i typed a lot!
