Of all pictures i could have chosen from today to use for my blog i chose this one haha! Pimpa, the pimp frog!!
Anyway.. Its 19:45 and we are on the train about to head back to pisa. Its been a VERY long day. Done so much walking today i wouldnt be surprised if i got blisters.
We got the subway to the vatican as planned and did all the tours through there before going to the vatican museum. It was all very impressive, i particularly enjoyed the artwork in the museum. Its the best i've seen so far. Michelangelo's last judgement was immense.
Only negative comment about the museum is that perhaps there was TOO much going on? There was just too much to look at. But all at the same time, everything was so fascinating to look at. Simply put, even if all the drawings were spectacular, they were easily overshadowed by even more impressive paintings.
Another problem was there was way too many people. There was no real control over how many people were going in at a time. So everyone jus flooded in, although this was the same all over rome. There just seemed to be tourists everywhere. It was incredibly busy.
On the walk back to the station (after spending half the day at the vatican!) we passed through the pantheon, the trevi fountain, several monuments which i dont know the name of, the ruins that lead down te road towards the colloseum and of course, the colloseum itself! I was really looking forward to the colloseum, but just a bit sadly disappointed at how busy the roads were around it and how the heavy plantation in the surroundings just ruined the appearance of it.
No... I'm not bitter i didn't get a decent photo! I knew that most parts of the colloseum was inaccessible on the inside, but i expected more just from the outside.
Ah well, the important thing is i got to see everything i wanted to see in rome all in one day! Another early start tomorrow as we're off to france! Last time we checked, the rail services were all on strike, so lets hope everythings bak and running tomorrow...
Oooo, on a cabin train now! Feel so much like harry potter haha!
